A Penguin Update is on its Way

By Jillean Kearney on November 17, 2015

Google's Gary Illyes, Webmaster Trends Analyst, just confirmed on Twitter that a Penguin update will be released by the end of the year.

The last Penguin update was released in December 2014; and all webmasters hit with penalties a year ago will be able to recover if they put the work in to remove spammy links.

SEOs are anticipating that the latest version of the Penguin update will be a real-time algorithm. As Google finds spammy links, rankings could potentially be affected almost immediately.

On the flip side, once detected spammy links are removed, recovery in ranks can also potentially happen immediately.
