BuzzFeed's Viral Success Comes From Content that Tugs at the Heart Strings

BuzzFeed's new publisher Doa Nguyen (and the brand's former vice president of growth and data) spoke to AdWeek about the online juggernaut and why its content has found such huge success.

When asked what content works well (besides cats) on BuzzFeed, Nguyen said, "Basically content that stirs an emotion that does well. It can range from a funny list about kids to an insightful commentary on current events to investigate stories about an injustice or a heartbreaking situation. It can be a list, it can be a long-form story, it can be an essay, but if a story stirs an emotion then it drives sharing."
