Google Makes More Core Algorithm Updates Over the Weekend

By Jillean Kearney on January 18, 2016

Google made changes to its core ranking algorithm over the weekend.

The updates come just a week after Google made Panda a part of its core ranking algorithm

Earlier this morning, Google's Gary Illyes tweeted that any fluctuations in search traffic/insights noticed over the weekend were a result of core algorithm changes as opposed to Google's Penguin update (the update that targets spammy links).

A Penguin update is expected to happen early this year, which is why many webmasters thought the weekend's fluctuations in search traffic/insights were a result of Penguin.
