Google to Increase Effects of Mobile-friendly Algorithm in May

By Jillean Kearney on March 21, 2016

Google announced on its Official Webmaster Blog that it will be making some updates to the mobile-friendly algorithm that was launched last year in April.

The algorithm uses mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal in mobile search results.

Beginning in May, the update will increase the effect of the mobile-friendly ranking symbol.

According to Google, there is nothing to worry about if your site is already mobile-friendly and that "you will not be impacted by this update."

The update will roll out slowly because the algorithm is a page-by-page ranking signal. Google needs time to assess each page.

If your website is not yet mobile-friendly or if you want to make sure that you comply with the algorithm, take a look at the search engine's mobile guidelines
