How the Music You Listen to at Your Desk Impacts Your ProductivityIf you're one of those people that likes to drown out office noise with headphones and a playlist, your productivity likely changes depending on what you're listening to.

"People listening to music in headphones completed tasks more quickly and came up with better ideas than those that didn't," states Superfi.

This is a result of the improved mood that your favorite music causes in your brain.

Different genres can help or hinder productivity in different ways.

For deep thinking or creative tasks (like writing), throw on something mellow.

If you're concentrating on learning something new or working on something that requires you to immerse yourself entirely in it, opt for music that doesn't have any lyrics.
