Last week, as you probably (hopefully) know, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized the freedom to marry in all states.
Leading up to the Supreme Court oral arguments, non-profit activist group Freedom to Marry kicked off a social media campaign, #LoveMustWin, to spread the word that it's America's time to embrace the freedom to marry.
The campaign was major success. Thousands participated – including Hillary Clinton.
#LoveMustWin turned into #LoveWins after the Supreme Court made its announcement, and became a huge trending topic across different social platforms.
"The campaign’s success was the result of a focus on powerful storytelling, message research, and targeted communications that led to a huge cultural shift in favor of marriage equality. Six years ago, we partnered with Blue State Digital (the firm behind the Obama campaign’s digital operation) as we recognized that digital and social media could be a crucial tool in transforming the marriage movement," Michael Crawford, digital director at Freedom to Marry, wrote for Digiday.
