Meerkat is a brand new app that enables its users to conduct live-streaming broadcasts, with the touch of a button, via their smartphones.
The app works exclusively with Twitter. Users must have a Twitter handle to use the app to start live-streaming to their followers.
According Ben Rubin, Meerkat's CEO and co-founder, the app received over 30,000 downloads in one week after listing it on Product Hunt, a website used for sourcing the newest tech products.
Brands, like Starbucks, are already using the app to connect with their audiences.
Meerkat videos "exist entirely in the moment," and once a user has ended a broadcast, the video can no longer be viewed on Meerkat. However, users do have the option to post Meerkat videos on various other platforms.
