Applying David Ogilvy's Lessons to Mobile App Marketing

By Jillean Kearney on March 11, 2015

David Ogilvy, commonly referred to as the "Original Mad Man" and "The Father of Advertising", is a big deal to many marketing peeps. He created some of the most successful marketing campaigns ever during the golden age of print advertising.

Even though the marketing landscape has changed drastically since his heyday, many of Ogilvy's principles still apply.

KISSmetrics rounded up five of Ogilvy's most famous quotes that are still very relevant when applied to marketing mobile apps.

Up first is Ogilvy's take on writing good copy:  "Good copy can't be written tongue in cheek, written just for a living. You've got to believe in the product."

A key component of app marketing is its description. If you want people to download your app, you need to present them with a great description.

"The purpose of writing persuasive copy is to motivate a specific user behavior. If you trigger that behavior, you win. If you don't, you lose," KISSmetrics stated.
