According to a new study from Bitglass, the cloud will have a banner year in 2016. Next year, more than ever, enterprise applications will be moving into the cloud.
Last month, at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo in Orlando, Bitglass surveyed 82 CIOs and IT leaders. The results indicate that cloud services and storage will be a top priority going forward, and that the cloud is becoming the go-to for enterprise software builds and data hosting.
Over half of survey participants said that "cloud-first" is their company's current strategy.
With the emergence of this "cloud-first" strategy, security has become a top priority as well. Eighty-seven percent of survey respondents said that they expect to increase spend on cloud security next year, and 34 percent are planing to increase budget allocated for security by at least 20 percent.
"Progressive CIOs understand the powerful advantages that a cloud-first, security-now strategy can bring to their business," he noted in a statement. "As we get ready to turn to page on a year plagued by epic data breaches and other nefarious activity, we believe that the increased focus on cloud and on security by IT leaders is encouraging for 2016 and beyond," Nat Kausik, CEO of Bitglass, said.Add a Comment | Back to Top
